The scene is a sparse cosmic vigil. Human and robotic figures stand together on a dark platform, watching a vertical beam erupt from the horizon and pierce a violet sky crowded with orbital arcs. The scale recalls Romantic paintings in which small observers confront sublime nature. Here, however, the overwhelming object is an intelligence curve rising too rapidly to remain a line on a graph. Dr. Alex Wissner-Gross's December 20 dispatch gave that ascent a measurable anchor. Claude Opus 4.5's autonomy horizon had jumped to nearly five hours, extending the length of tasks a model could pursue without human intervention. The beam turns that horizon into altitude and makes the rate of change itself the landscape. Around it, the dispatch described agentic reinforcement learning overtaking mathematics benchmarks and proposed collective networks of agents as a route to superintelligence. The robots and people at the base are therefore not simply spectators. They stand at the point where longer-running individual agency may become coordinated collective intelligence. The orbital arcs preserve the advance of off-world compute. Machine-built batteries connect autonomy to the manufacturing and energy systems needed to sustain it. Most consequentially, AI token output was approaching a biological majority, comparing machine-generated tokens with the output of biological intelligence at planetary scale. This is why the tableau is restrained rather than crowded. Its subject is a change in proportion: autonomous duration, benchmark performance, collective organization, physical infrastructure, and sheer token production all beginning to climb together. December 20, 2025 appears here as an inflection rather than a completed Singularity, with the autonomy horizon becoming visibly steeper. Human and machine figures share the platform, while the curve they are watching has already escaped the dimensions of ordinary progress.
